The 1154 LILL STUDIO Custom Handbag or “design your own handbag” concept was an original idea, first introduced during the public launch of the line at a Chicago street fair in 1999. (What we now call LILL's Birthday!)
Owner Jennifer Velarde loved seeing different fabrics, colors and textures come together in the handbags she would sew. As quickly as she would create one bag combination, she was already interested in creating another using a different mix of fabrics. Giving that same creative outlet to the customer was a happy turn of fate and immediately became the core concept of 1154 LILL
1154 Lill has been a favorite spot of mine to take my favorite ladies (friends, my sister, my mom, bridesmaids) and buy them something nice on their special days. :) My now husband took me there on my birthday a couple of years ago and I got to design a very chic hobo purse that I still love to this day. Very friendly staff, very fun!
I LOVE LILL!! Ever since I planned a bachelorette party at the store in 2006, I've been hooked! I love expressing my creativity with the fabrics and getting a brand new bag that I designed! I'm up to my eighth bag now. It is such a great experience to design with friends- and Regina (the manager) and her staff make it ten times more enjoyable. They are so helpful and friendly! I even sometimes drive all the way from Manhattan, KS for the VIP events on Thursdays! It's totally worth it. Everyone always asks where I got my bag, and I proudly say that I designed it at Lill.
